WE Charity Scandal: Standstill Continues as Liberal Filibustering Resumes
Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics - November 9, 2020: Liberal members of the committee continue to filibuster, delaying debate on a motion from NDP MP Charlie Angus concerning conflicts of interest in relation to government pandemic spending. The committee is at an impasse over a Bloc amendment that would try to revive opposition efforts to obtain records of all paid speaking appearances made by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, since 2008. At the committee’s October 26 meeting, a Bloc MP helped vote down a motion on obatining the records, but the party later said that vote was done by mistake due to technical issues.
