Mi’kmaq Fishing Rights: Academics Return & Mi’kmaw Chiefs
Fisheries and Oceans - November 16, 2020: MPs invite back Aboriginal law and sustainable development professors from their November 2nd meeting to resume their discussion about the implementation of Mi’kmaq treaty fishing rights to support a moderate livelihood. Also participating in the committee’s study are Mi’kmaw chiefs from New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. Speaking to the committee are Dalhousie University’s Naiomi Metallic, Université Laval’s Thierry Rodon, York University’s William Craig Wicken, Eel Ground First Nation’s Chief George Ginnish, and Lennox Island First Nation’s Chief Darlene Bernard.
