Auditor General’s Spring Report on E-Commerce Taxation
Public Accounts – November 17, 2020: Auditor General Karen Hogan discusses her office’s 2019 spring report on the taxation of e-commerce. The audit found that the Canadian sales tax system has not kept pace with the rapidly evolving e-commerce marketplace, losing the federal government tax dollars and putting Canadian businesses at a disadvantage. Also appearing before the committee are the Canada Revenue Agency’s Bob Hamilton and Ted Gallivan; the Canada Border Services Agency’s John Ossowski; as well as the Department of Finance’s Paul Rochon and Andrew Marsland.
