In Committee from the House of Commons
WE Charity Co-Founders Craig and Marc Kielburger Appear at Ethics Committee
Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics - March 15, 2021: WE Charity co-founders Craig and Marc Kielburger testify as part of the committee's investigation into how their organization was awarded the now-cancelled $900-million sole-sourced contract to administer a federal grants program for student volunteers. The committee issued a summons for the brothers to appear after they initially declined an invitation. The Kielburgers agreed to testify on the condition that they be accompanied by counsel. The Liberal government came under fire after it announced on June 25, 2020, that it was awarding WE the contract to manage the grants program, despite the organization's close ties to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his family. The Kielburgers testified for four hours before the House finance committee on July 28, 2020, on the contract controversy.
