WE Charity Scandal: Clerk of the Privy Council Testifies on WE Charity Agreement

Finance – July 21, 2020:

Ian Shugart, clerk of the Privy Council and secretary to the Cabinet, faces MPs in a virtual meeting over how the now-cancelled $900-million sole-sourced contract was awarded to the WE Charity organization. WE Charity was tasked to administer a student-volunteering program, but backed away from the contract after personal connections between the organization, the prime minister and finance minister came to light.

Also speaking to the committee are Daniel Lapointe, president of Focus OSBL Consulting Service; Joshua Mandryk, lawyer at Goldblatt Partners LLP; and Chris Aylward, national president of the Public Service Alliance of Canada.
