Finance – July 22, 2020 – Part 2:
Finance Minister Bill Morneau faces questions over his involvement in the now-cancelled $900-million sole-sourced contract that was awarded to the WE Charity Foundation.
On July 17, Minister Morneau apologized for not recusing himself from cabinet discussions over the contract. WE Charity was tasked to administer a student-volunteering program, but backed away from the contract after personal connections between the organization, the prime minister and finance minister came to light.
Also speaking to the committee is the Department of Finance’s Michelle Kovacevic.
