L'Essentiel with Esther Bégin
USMCA and the Aluminum Industry – December 11 2019
The new United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement (USMCA) is a "net gain" for the aluminum sector, says Justin Trudeau, which means no financial aid will be given to this sector. The Bloc Québécois promises to vote against the USMCA if aluminum smelters do not receive assistance from Ottawa. Esther Bégin discusses these developments with CPAC journalist Marc-André Cossette and Jean Simard, president and CEO of the Aluminum Association of Canada. Also on the show: Hélène Lauzon, president of the Quebec’s Business Council on the Environment and Patrick Bonin, Greenpeace climate and energy campaigner, on COP25 taking place in Madrid from December 2nd to 13th.
