Senate Convenes to Consider Wage-Subsidy Legislation – April 11, 2020

The Senate convenes to consider legislation aimed at implementing the federal government’s proposed wage subsidy for businesses affected by the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. Sitting as a committee of the whole, senators question Finance Minister Bill Morneau on the measures contained in Bill C-14. Parliament has been suspended since March 13, 2020, over COVID-19 concerns, but the Senate sat on March 25 to debate Bill C-13, the government’s initial package of emergency economic measures.
