Public Safety Minister Bill Blair and his parliamentary secretary Joël Lightbound hold a virtual news conference concerning the federal government’s response to ideologically motivated violent extremism. The minister announces that thirteen groups, including the Proud Boys, will be added to Canada’s list of designated terrorist entities. Organizations designated as terrorist entities can have their assets seized and it is a criminal offence to knowingly aid a designated group in any way or participate in its activities.
