Quebec Outlines Enforcement in COVID-19 Red Zones – September 30, 2020
In Quebec City, Quebec Premier François Legault announces how the province will enforce new public-health measures for regions that fall under a red COVID-19 zone. He is joined by Geneviève Guilbault, Quebec’s deputy premier and minister of public security, and Dr. Horacio Arruda, the province's director of public health. The premier announces that police will be able to fine people who do not respect the restrictions. People who gather for house parties could be fined $1,000 per person. He also announces that protestors must also wear masks or face a $1,000 fine. The update comes as the regions of Montreal, Quebec City, and Chaudière-Appalaches will move to Quebec's highest COVID-19 alert level, effective October 1. (no interpretation)
