COVID-19: Ontario Premier Launches $1.05 Billion Infrastructure Fund
In a news conference at Queen’s Park, Ontario Premier Doug Ford provides an update on his government’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. He is joined by provincial cabinet ministers Steve Clark (municipal affairs and housing), Dr. Merrilee Fullerton (long-term care), Stephen Lecce (education), and Laurie Scott (infrastructure). The premier announces $1.05 billion in combined federal-provincial funding through the new COVID-19 resilience infrastructure stream to build or renovate health and safety related projects in long-term care, education and municipalities. Eligible projects include community, recreation, health, and education renovations, as well as COVID-19 response infrastructure, such as renovations to enable physical distancing. This funding is also dedicated to disaster mitigation projects like flood mitigation. (October 28, 2020) (no interpretation)
