Alberta Update on COVID-19, Vaccine Supply – January 18, 2021
In Edmonton, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta's chief medical officer of health, provides an update on the province's response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. She also comments on Alberta's shortage of COVID-19 vaccines. Premier Jason Kenney has announced that the province's supply of vaccines for first doses would run out by the end of the day or early the following day. The update comes as the province eases some public-health measures. Hair salons and other personal-services businesses are allowed to re-open by appointment only and up to 20 people will be allowed to attend funerals. Up to 10 people will also be allowed at outdoor social gatherings, but indoor gatherings are still prohibited. (no interpretation)
