Federal Update on COVID-19, Pfizer Vaccine Delivery – January 19, 2021
In a virtual news conference, Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada’s chief public health officer, and Dr. Howard Njoo, deputy chief public health officer, join federal ministers Anita Anand public services and procurement) and Jean-Yves Duclos (Treasury Board president) as well as Major-General Dany Fortin (vice president of logistics and operations at the Public Health Agency of Canada) to provide an update on the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. Major-General Fortin announces that Canada will not be receiving any shipments of Pfizer vaccine doses during the last week of January. Deliveries will start back up in the first two weeks of February. Pfizer recently announced it was temporarily reducing the number of international vaccine shipments in the coming weeks in order to increase production capacity at one of its European manufacturing facilities.
