COVID-19: Canada Responds
Conservative Leader Erin O'Toole on COVID-19 Variants, Canada's Climate Target
Conservative Leader Erin O'Toole holds a news conference in Ottawa, where he calls on the federal government to temporarily suspend international flights arriving from "hotspot" countries such as India and Brazil in order to control the rapid spread of COVID-19 variants in Canada. The leader also responds to questions about Canada's new climate target to reduce emissions by 40 to 45 per cent below 2005 levels by 2030. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made the pledge at the virtual Leaders Summit on Climate hosted by U.S. President Joe Biden. Canada's previous commitment was 30 per cent.
