Joint Committee on the Constitution – Women’s Rights

CPAC presents key debates and testimony from the 1980–81 Special Joint Committee on the Constitution of Canada. In this episode, we look at testimony concerning women’s rights. Adam Dodek, a professor of law at the University of Ottawa, joins host Peter Van Dusen to provide historical analysis.

On November 20, 1980, the committee hears testimony from Lynn McDonald, Jill Porter, and Betsy Carr, representing the National Action Committee on the Status of Women, and from Doris Anderson, Lucie Pépin, Mary Eberts, Nicole Duplé, and Beverly Baines, representing the Canadian Advisory Council on the Status of Women.
