Millennials Not Optimistic About Achieving Global Gender Equality: Survey
The MATCH International Women’s Fund marks the first day of Gender Equality Week by holding a news conference in Ottawa to release results from its nation-wide survey of millennials and their expectations of achieving gender equality in Canada and around the world. The survey reveals that while 75 per cent of respondents said they expect gender equality to be achieved in the Western world in their lifetime, only 21 per cent thought it could be achieved globally. Abacus Data polled 1,700 Canadians aged 18 to 37. Speaking with reporters are Jess Tomlin, CEO of The MATCH International Women’s Fund, and Gisèle Baraka Bashige, human rights activist and journalist in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
