Ministers on RCMP Commissioner, Neskantaga First Nation Water Crisis

On Parliament Hill, Crown-Relations Minister Carolyn Bennett and Indigenous Services Minister Marc Miller respond to reporters’ questions on whether the federal government still has confidence in RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki. The commissioner has faced calls for her resignation amid criticism of the national police force’s response to the Nova Scotia lobster fishery dispute. Minister Miller also discusses the water crisis facing the Neskantaga First Nation in northwestern Ontario. Only a few residents remain in the community as hundreds of residents have been evacuated due to a lack of running water when the water plant was shut down after an oily substance was found in the water supply.
