NDP Leader On Long-Term Care Homes, October Crisis Motion – Oct. 29, 2020
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh speaks with reporters on Parliament Hill after making an announcement about his party's proposal to end profit-driven long-term care. The NDP wants to start with centres that are operated by Revera, which is owned by a federal Crown corporation. The NDP leader also comments on the suspected terrorist attack in France, in which three people were killed in a knife attack in a church in Nice. Singh responds to questions as well on the motion from the Bloc Québécois, which is being debated in the House of Commons. The motion calls on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to apologize on behalf of the federal government for its decision to invoke the War Measures Act in 1970 during the October Crisis in Quebec. Trudeau’s father, Pierre Elliott Trudeau, was prime minister at the time of the crisis. (no interpretation)
