MPs Continue Study of Aircraft Certification Process
Transport, Infrastructure and Communities - March 10, 2020: The committee hears from two panels of expert witnesses from the aviation industry as it continues its study of Canada’s certification process for new aircraft. The study was convened to examine the role airplane manufacturers and certifying bodies play in the certification process, following the crashes of two Boeing Max planes in 2018 and 2019, respectively. Appearing on the first panel are the Canadian Transportation Accident Investigation and Safety Board’s Kathleen Fox and Natacha Van Themsche; as well as aerospace engineers Sylvain Alarie and Natacha Van Themsche. Appearing on the second panel are the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada’s Jim Quick; Bell Textron Canada Limited’s Michael Deer; Longview Aviation Capital Corp.’s David Curtis; as well as aerospace engineer Jodi Diamant.
