Special COVID-19 Committee: Support for Seniors & Firearms Ban
Special Committee on the COVID-19 Pandemic - May 5, 2020: MPs convene for a virtual meeting to debate the government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau faces questions over the government’s ban of certain assault-style rifles, support for seniors, and the eligibility criteria for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB). The special committee comprises all 338 MPs and will meet via videoconference on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The meeting format, which comes in response to concerns about maintaining physical distancing during the pandemic, was established in a motion passed by the House of Commons on April 20, 2020.
