Special COVID-19 Committee: New COVID-19 Bill
Special Committee on the COVID-19 Pandemic - June 10, 2020: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau faces questions from opposition leaders ahead of a potential standoff over the government’s new COVID-19 legislation. The new bill proposes to impose penalties for fraudulent CERB (Canada Emergency Response Benefit) claims, to expand the federal wage subsidy program to include seasonal workers, and to increase disability benefits. The special committee comprises all 338 MPs and will meet in a hybrid meeting format, which combines MPs in the chamber with others joining by video link.
