2008 Discrimination Prevention Forum (Part 3 of 4)
This national conference was organized by the Canadian Human Rights Commission and held in Ottawa from October 27th to 29th. This event brought together decision makers from the government, the private sector and non-profit organizations and sought to encourage discussion on important issues related to the prevention of discrimination and promotion of human rights in the workplace. This October 28th panel, entitled "Our Future Workforce", was comprised of young professionals and employers. The panel of employers consisted of Carolyn Berardino (National Bank of Canada), Janet Ransom (ServisAir) and Jan Michaels (Canada Public Service Agency). The panel of young professionals included Christine Lee (Canada Post), Philippe Gauvin (Bell Canada), Roula Suleiman (Service Canada) and Jacqueline Mingole (Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission). Participants used this opportunity to discuss strategies for attracting new talent and ways to nurture and maintain a diverse workforce.
