2030 NORTH: A National Planning Conference – June 3, 2009 (Part 4 of 7)
The Canadian Arctic Resources Committee (CARC), Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK), and the University of Calgary's Centre for Military and Strategic Studies (CMSS) host 2030 North, Ottawa, Ont., June 1–4, 2009. This national planning conference aims to assemble the best data and expertise about the North to create the first comprehensive picture of the Arctic twenty years from now and beyond. In this June 3rd session, John Donihee (barrister and solicitor) discusses land claims agreements. After, a panel of speakers discuss science and research in the Canadian Arctic. The panellists are David Hik (University of Alberta), Steve Bigras (executive director, Canadian Polar Commission), Benoit Beauchamp (executive director, Arctic Institute of North America), Steve Kokelj (Water Resources Division, Indian and Northern Affairs Canada), and Peter Geller (Association of Canadian Universities for Northern Studies). Tony Penikett (co-chair, 2030 North) makes opening remarks.
