2009 Canadian Conference on International Health (Part 2 of 2)
The Canadian Society for International Health holds its 16th annual Canadian Conference on International Health, Ottawa, Ont., October 25–28, 2009. This year’s conference theme is “Health Equity: Our Global Responsibility.” This October 27th session features opening remarks by Bev Oda, the minister responsible for CIDA. In her remarks, Ms. Oda speaks about CIDA's commitment to improving health and fostering economic growth in developing countries. Afterwards, Alex Ross (director, partnerships and UN reform, World Health Organization (WHO)) and Wilton Littlechild (regional chief, Assembly of First Nations) present speeches about global health diplomacy focusing on perspectives from the WHO. Later, the speakers field questions from conference attendees.
