The Week with Mark Sutcliffe
December 13, 2009
Host Mark Sutcliffe and his guests ask Canadians to comment on global warming, the planned introduction of the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) in Ontario and British Columbia, and calls for Defence Minister Peter MacKay’s resignation following revelations about Canada’s involvement in the torture of Afghan detainee transfers. Former Canadian diplomat Gar Pardy joins Mark in the studio to discuss the allegations made by Canadian diplomat Richard Colvin about the government’s knowledge of detainee torture in Afghanistan. Later, Mark sits down with Liberal MP Stéphane Dion to discuss key environmental issues, including Canada’s participation in the ongoing Copenhagen Climate Change Conference, which is taking place from December 7–18. Over the course of the program, CPAC viewers call in to give their perspective on issues that are shaping Canada’s political landscape.
