Reforming the Number of Seats in the House of Commons
The Laboratory of Research on Federalism and Institutions (FEDLAB) at the University of Ottawa hosts a roundtable discussion about the implications of increasing the number of seats in the House of Commons, January 27, 2010. Speaking on the panel are Manon Cornellier (journalist at Le Devoir), Thomas Mulcair (NDP MP for Outremont, Que.), and Benoît Pelletier (law professor at the University of Ottawa). Discussion focuses on the effects that such reforms might have on Quebec’s political representation in the House. Afterwards, the speakers take questions from audience members, including Françoise Boivin (president of the NDP’s Quebec chapter) and Pablo Rodriguez (Liberal MP for Honoré-Mercier, Que.).
