Government Operations and Estimates
Government Operations and Estimates (November 16, 2010) Former Public Works Minister Michael Fortier answered questions about allegations of political interference in a controversial $9-million renovation contract for Parliament Hill. Fortier was the minster at the time when Montreal construction firm LM Sauvé won the contract. Fortier testified that he was never told of any problems with the company, which went bankrupt just a year after landing the project. MPs also heard from Duff Conacher, coordinator of Democracy Watch, and Joseph Broccolini, vice-president of Broccolini Construction Inc. The RCMP is currently investigating the contract.
