Jason Berry
Investigative reporter Jason Berry gained international prominence with his reporting on sexual predators in the Catholic Church in 1992 with his book ‘Lead Us Not Into Temptation’. Berry followed up on the success of that book with his film ‘Vows of Silence’ that chronicled the abuse of power in the Vatican under the administration of John Paul II. Born in New Orleans, Jason Berry’s first job after graduating from George Washington University was as press secretary for Charles Evers, the first African –American elected as mayor of a Mississippi city, who was running for Governor of Mississippi. Berry reported for a number of newspapers in New Orleans and wrote several books on New Orleans’ political and cultural history. His work has been published by the New York Times, the Boston Globe, the LA Times and the Chicago Tribune. Ken Rockburn spoke to Jason Berry at his home in New Orleans.
