North American Futures – March 16, 2012 (Part 4 of 5)
Diplomats, scholars, practitioners and media gathered in Vancouver from March 16 to 17 to discuss Canadian, American and Mexican perspectives on the future of North America. This is the second conference on North American Futures jointly organized by the University of British Columbia (UBC) and the University of California, Berkeley. The event builds on the first symposium, which was held March 2010 in Berkeley, California. The fourth panel discussion on March 16th examined Canada and the United States in the Arctic. The participants were Andrea Buckley (assistant deputy minister, Yukon Department of Economic Development), Michael Byers (Canada Research Chair in Global Politics and International Law at the University of British Columbia), Ryan Dean (researcher and policy analyst in the Arctic Security Program, Walter & Gordon Duncan Foundation) and Steve Myers (program manager for the Pacific NorthWest Economic Region (PNWER) Arctic Caucus). The session was moderated by Nelson Graburn, Professor Emeritus of Sociocultural Anthropology at the University of California, Berkeley.
