Graham Yost
Screenwriter and executive producer Graham Yost's first big break came with the 1994 thriller "Speed" starring Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock, and Dennis Hopper. From there Mr. Yost was able to spin a career that saw him working with such talent as Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, all while collecting a handful of Emmy and Golden Globe Awards. The son of Elwy Yost (a celebrated host of TVOntario's Saturday Night at the Movies) Mr. Yost's first paid gig as a screenwriter was "Hey Dude," a children's television series for Nickelodeon. Since the success of "Speed," Mr. Yost has written several other action movies such as "Broken Arrow" and "Hard Rain," but he has been most successful with television, having written for the HBO series "Band of Brothers" and "Boomtown." For the past few years, Mr. Yost is most associated with the success of two programs on the FX cable channel – "Justified" and "The Americans." Ken Rockburn spoke to Graham Yost in Toronto.
