Subcommittee on International Human Rights - October 30, 2014
U.N. Special Rapporteur Ahmed Shaheed provides an update on the state of human rights in Iran. His recent report, which was presented to the U.N. a few days before his parliamentary appearance, highlights a number of his concerns in regards to what he sees as a worsening human rights situation in the country. Among his concerns is the surge of executions over the past year, growing oppressive conditions for women, and increasing vilification and harassment of religious minorities. (October 30, 2014)
