The committee begins its pre-study on the government's assisted dying legislation. Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould and Health Minister Jane Philpott are first to appear. Bill C-14 would create a federal legislative framework to permit medical assistance in dying across Canada. The Supreme Court of Canada has given Parliament until June 6 to pass a new law. Deputy Justice Minister William F. Pentney and Deputy Health Minister Simon Kennedy also testify, along with Senior Assistant Deputy Justice Minister Donald K.
