Mustafa Dzhemilev, the exiled Crimean Tatar leader and Ukrainian parliamentarian, and Andrii Shevchenko, ambassador of Ukraine to Canada, discuss the deteriorating situation of Crimean Tatars since the Russian annexation of Crimea from Ukraine in 2014. The Tatars are a Turkic-speaking, Muslim minority group. Senators then resume their study on recent political and economic developments in Argentina, in the context of the potential impact on Canadian policy and interests. Jean Daudelin, associate professor and associate director, Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University, testifies during this portion of the meeting. (May 18, 2016)
