In Committee from the Senate of Canada
Legal and Constitutional Affairs - December 1, 2016
The committee continues its study of Senator Claude Carignan's bill on drug-impaired driving. Bill S-230 would amend the Criminal Code to authorize the use of roadside saliva drug-screening devices, as well as the taking of samples of bodily substances for testing. The first panel is made up of William Trudell (chair of the Canadian Council of Criminal Defence Lawyers), Superintendent Gord Jones (co-chair of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police's traffic committee), Michael Robertson (owner of Robertson Consultants, Inc.), and Gerald D. Chipeur (partner, Miller Thomson LLP). Senators then hear from Amy Miles (director of forensic toxicology, Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene), Robyn Robertson, president and CEO, Traffic Injury Research Foundation) and Christine Moore (vice president of toxicology analytical services, Immunalysis Corporation).
