Former senators Hugh Segal and Roméo Dallaire, as well as federal privacy commissioner Daniel Therrien, take part in the committee's study of Bill C-22. The legislation would create a committee of seven MPs and two senators to scrutinize national security and intelligence activities. In 2014, Segal and Dallaire introduced a bill to create a committee of parliamentarians on national security and intelligence oversight. Bill S-220 called for a committee consisting of three members from the Senate and six from the House of Commons. (June 5, 2017) UPDATE: Bill C-22 received royal assent on June 22.
