Jason Kenney (Secretary of State for Multiculturalism and Canadian Identity) delivers a speech at the annual Raoul Wallenberg International Human Rights Symposium hosted by York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School, Toronto, Ont., January 18–19, 2007. The symposium is held in celebration of Raoul Wallenberg’s life and humanitarian contributions to Nazi-occupied Hungary during World War II. In this January 19th symposium session, Mr. Kenney discusses efforts undertaken by the Canadian government to advance human rights, both domestically and internationally. Mr. Kenney also speaks about the necessity of balancing Canadian civil liberties with international security objectives and his own work within Parliament to promote these standards. After speaking, Mr. Kenney fields questions from conference attendees. Neil Finkelstein (partner at Blake, Cassels and Graydon LLP) makes opening remarks and moderates.
