MPs Vote on SNC-Lavalin Motion – February 20, 2019
Members of Parliament hold a vote in the House of Commons on the NDP's motion regarding the SNC-Lavalin controversy. Prior to the vote, former justice minister and attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould rose to inform the House she would abstain from voting because she was personally involved in the matter. The opposition was calling for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to waive solicitor-client privilege to allow Wilson-Raybould to speak on political interference allegations in the criminal prosecution against SNC-Lavalin, and for the government to launch a formal public inquiry into the allegations. The motion was defeated 134-160.
