Federal Govt Commits $15 Million for Ontario Tree-Planting Program
On World Environment Day, Environment Minister Catherine McKenna holds a news conference at the Dominion Arboretum in Ottawa to announce that the federal government will provide up to $15 million over 4 years to support an Ontario tree-planting program. Rob Keen, the CEO of Forests Ontario, also makes remarks. Forests Ontario was told in April after the tabling of the Ontario budget that the Doug Ford government was eliminating funding for the program, which aims to plant 50 million trees across the province by 2025. More than 27 million trees have been planted across Ontario through the program since 2008. (June 5, 2019) (no interpretation)
