COVID-19: Canada Responds
Alberta COVID-19 Update: Testing Expands To Asymptomatic Albertans
In Edmonton, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta's chief medical officer of health, provides an update on the province's response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The province is expanding COVID-19 testing to include every Albertan, regardless of whether they have symptoms. Asymptomatic individuals who want to be tested for COVID-19 will be able to do so starting next week. Dr. Hinshaw says the province-wide asymptomatic testing will provide data to better understand the impact of the coronavirus disease and help prevent further spread. Alberta is preparing to move to the second phase of its COVID-19 recovery plan. It began easing public-health restrictions on May 14. The second phase is scheduled to begin on June 19.
