Ont. Premier Ford Announces $35M for Schools in COVID-19 Hot Zones
In a news conference at Queen’s Park, Ontario Premier Doug Ford provides an update on his government’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak. He announces an additional $35 million will be allocated to schools in Toronto, Ottawa, Peel and York amid a surge of cases in those regions. The extra funding can be used by 12 school boards to hire more teachers and custodians, and to purchase more laptops and tablets for online learning. The premier is joined by provincial cabinet ministers Christine Elliott (health) and Stephen Lecce (education), as well as Dr. David Williams, Ontario’s chief medical officer of health.
