NDP Leader on COVID-19 Study Motion, Confidence Vote – Oct. 22, 2020
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh speaks with reporters on Parliament about the Conservative motion which calls on the House of Commons health committee to undertake a wide-ranging study of the government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The motion from Conservative MP Michelle Rempel Garner also calls on the government to release documents related to the pandemic. The NDP leader also responds to questions about yesterday's confidence vote. The NDP and Green Party voted with the Liberals to defeat the Conservative motion for a special committee and to avert a possible snap election. Singh is also asked about the University of Ottawa’s handling of an incident in which an instructor used an anti-Black slur in a class. (no interpretation)
