Federal Govt. Announces $200M Investment for Mississauga Vaccine Facility
In Shawinigan, Quebec, federal Innovation Minister François-Philippe Champagne announces a federal investment of almost $200 million for Resilience Biotechnologies to expand its manufacturing plant in Mississauga, Ontario, to mass produce vaccines domestically. He is joined virtually by Rahul Singhvi, CEO of Resilience, and Ali Ehsassi, parliamentary secretary to the minister. The investment will help Resilience increase its manufacturing and fill-finish capacity for a number of vaccines and therapeutics, including mRNA vaccines like the ones being used to fight COVID-19. The completed expansion is expected to allow for the manufacturing of approximately 112 million to 640 million doses of mRNA vaccines per year. (May 18, 2021) (no interpretation)
