OTTAWA— The Cable Public Affairs Channel (CPAC) is pleased to unveil Our Information Ecosystem, an eight-part documentary series examining the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on education, politics, journalism and the workforce.
Over the course of eight episodes, academics, analysts, policy experts, journalists, activists, politicians, business leaders, content creators and students examine the health of Canada's information ecosystem and the growing challenges posed by disinformation. The series also explores potential solutions and practical tools to help Canadians identify and counter false and misleading information and better understand its impact on democracy and social cohesion.
A healthy democracy depends on citizens who can critically assess the information they encounter,said Christa Dickenson, President and CEO of CPAC.Through this multifaceted project, CPAC is advancing its commitment to civic engagement by helping Canadians develop the knowledge and skills they need to navigate a rapidly changing information landscape.
Our Information Ecosystem also examines the growing influence of online personalities and content creators on the media landscape and elections. The series further explores the spread of disinformation, focusing on the impact on diasporic and Indigenous communities.
Funded in part by the Government of Canada, the first episode of Our Information Ecosystem is available online, and the series rollout will continue through March 2027. The series is part of a partnership with MediaSmarts to develop educational content that engages students in fact-checking activities, pre-bunking and debunking disinformation, and AI literacy.
