It's another busy day as MPs sit late into the evening before rising later this week for the summer break.
Tuesday's agenda includes:
- Third-reading votes on the online streaming bill (C-11) after the heritage committee passed several amendments last week -- part of the government's timeline to expedite the legislation.
- A time allocation motion from the government on the firearms bill (C-21).
- The start of debate on Bill C-28 -- the government's elimination of self-induced extreme intoxication as a defence for violent crimes in the wake of a Supreme Court decision striking down the existing Section 33.1 of the Criminal Code. MPs agreed unanimously to expedite all stages of the bill today, with the justice committee studying the subject more closely this autumn.
MPs also delivered speeches to mark the final week for Candice Bergen in the chamber as opposition leader:
