Ottawa city councillor Diane Deans, who headed Ottawa's police services board until being ousted two days after the federal emergency declaration, provides testimony at the commission.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was in the chamber for question period.

This morning Trudeau faced calls for a response to yesterday's evidence at the Public Order Emergency that both he and Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson considered Ontario Premier Doug Ford to be hiding from his responsibility in responding to February's occupation of the national capital:

The prime minister also responded to questions about the obligation of National Assembly of Quebec members to swear an oath to the King. He commented as well on Statistics Canada's latest inflation numbers.

Meanwhile, MPs (including son Daniel) paid tribute to the late NDP MP Bill Blaikie, who passed away last month.

  • MPs vote on the bill concerning 1) the first phase of national dental care for children under 12 in households with a family income below $90,000, and 2) a top-up of the $500 Canada Housing Benefit established as a one-time payment.

WATCH: Consultation period begins on proposed replacement-worker ban

Labour Minister Seamus O’Regan launched a two-month consultation process on the proposed federal ban of replacement workers. 

Legislation to ban so-called "scabs" during a lockour or strike in a federally-regulated workplace was part of the March's supply and confidence agreement struck between the Liberals and NDP.
