COVID-19: Canada Responds
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau provides an update from outside his home in Ottawa on the federal government's response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. He announces that a $4-billion agreement has been reached with all provinces and territories to top up wages for low-income essential workers. The federal government will contribute $3 billion towards the cost-sharing deal, while provinces and territories will provide $1 billion. Provinces and territories will be responsible for deciding which workers are eligible for the wage increase. (May 7, 2020)
