COVID-19: PM Trudeau on Testing Capacity and Contact Tracing – May 22, 2020
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addresses Canadians from outside his home in Ottawa about the federal government's response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. He says that Ottawa is working with provinces and territories to expand COVID-19 testing capacity and will help to procure swabs and other testing materials. In order to accelerate contact tracing, federal employees have been trained to trace the contacts of people who test positive and are able to make thousands of daily calls. The prime minister also says the federal government will work to ensure that data collected across jurisdictions is shared.
