At a news conference on Parliament Hill, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland announce that the federal government will provide $19 billion to the provinces and territories as part of an agreement to assist with economic recovery from the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. The prime minister also confirms that measures restricting non-essential travel across the Canada–U.S. border will be extended until at least August 21, 2020.
