COVID-19: Canada Responds
New Brunswick To Stay in Atlantic Bubble as P.E.I., Nfld. Temporarily Exit
In Fredericton, Dr. Jennifer Russell, New Brunswick's chief medical officer of health, and Premier Blaine Higgs provide an update on the province's response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. The update comes after Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador have both announced that they will withdraw from the Atlantic travel bubble for two weeks amid a rise of cases in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. New Brunswick recently tightened public-health measures in the Moncton and Saint John regions in an effort to address growing COVID-19 case numbers. New Brunswick will continue to participate in the Atlantic bubble despite the moves by Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador. The bubble, originally announced on July 3, 2020, allowed residents of the four Atlantic provinces to travel freely between those jurisdictions without needing to self-isolate.
