COVID-19: Canada Responds
COVID-19: Quebec Cancels Holiday Gatherings in Red Zones – December 3, 2020
In Quebec City, Quebec Premier François Legault provides an update on the province’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. He is joined by Christian Dubé, Quebec’s minister of health and social services, and Dr. Horacio Arruda, the province’s director of public health. The premier announces that holiday gatherings will not be permitted in red zones, a month after he said that two gatherings with a maximum of 10 people at each one would be allowed between December 24 and December 27. Legault says it is not realistic to believe the spread of the virus will be slowed enough in time for Christmas. He reports that the health care system is already fragile as 6,600 employees are currently in sick leave or preventive withdrawal. (no interpretation)
